He was put in a lot of pressure but he survived well as a necessary centre-back in this game. I believe this was Phillips’ best game since his move.
Josko Gvardiol – 6/10
He was able to play as a centre-back again, the position where he made his mark, but it seemed like he had been away from that position for a long time. So he was partly responsible for the first goal conceded. However, he made up for it by assisting O’Reilly’s goal.
Joshua Wilson-Esbrand – 6/10
He started as a left-back but was constantly dipping inside to overload the midfield. However, it was a double-edged sword as Milan’s first two goals came from a position where he was responsible for everything.
Mateo Kovacic – 7/10
Helped the midfield to be more stable, he showed his special ability to tear apart the opposing defender on the counter-attack before passing to Grealish to equalize.
Nico O’Reilly – 7/10
There were some miscues typical of a young player, but he was a very good player who got into the penalty area very well and scored a decisive goal.
James McAtee – 6/10
McAtee may not be noticed much, but when he does get the ball he rarely makes mistakes, providing cover for the defence when the team is on the attack and linking up with his teammates impressively.
Oscar Bobb – 6/10
This game, his form dropped a bit. He failed to dribble past many times, but he was still dangerous when he had the chance to create opportunities for his teammates. It’s a pity that he didn’t get an assist. If Haaland’s shot had a goalie, it would have been a goal.
Jack Grealish – 8/10
He has shown improvement since pre-season and repaid Guardiola’s faith in him in this game with a beautiful shot past Peña.
Erling Haaland – 7/10
Just having a chance can create a headache for the opponent at any time. There is always a chance when pulling the trigger. It is a pity that the shot that should have crossed the line was not counted as a goal because there is no goal line and VAR.
